Upload Your Common App Materials

Please send your Activities, Honors, Personal Essay, and any Additional Information or Challenges & Circumstances responses. PDFs are preferred, but clear screenshots are fine.

How to Save Your Common App Materials

You do not need to print anything on paper. Use the application preview and your device's PDF option, or take clear screenshots of the requested sections.

Send files that show:
Activities, Honors, Personal Essay, and Additional Information / Challenges & Circumstances, if completed. One PDF or several separate files are both fine.
  1. Log in to your Common App account and open your application.
  2. Open Activities or Activities and experiences. If a Preview option is available, open it and select Print.
  3. In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF or Save to PDF. On Windows, you may see Microsoft Print to PDF. On a Mac using the system print dialog, use the PDF menu and choose Save as PDF.
  4. Name the file with the student's name and section, such as Jordan Smith Activities.
  5. Open Writing and save the Personal Essay using the same steps. Check that the saved file includes any completed Additional Information and Challenges & Circumstances responses. If they are missing, save or screenshot those responses separately.
  6. Open Education and find Honors. Upload clear screenshots showing all Honors entries, including the titles, grade levels and recognition levels. You may also upload an Education PDF that includes Honors. If no honors are listed, let us know in the form.
  7. Upload your saved files using the form below. Before uploading, open them to make sure all requested entries and responses are visible and readable.
Your screen may look slightly different. Preview and PDF options vary by browser and device. If you cannot save a section as a PDF, clear screenshots showing the complete entries or responses are fine.
Before uploading, make sure your files show:
  • All Activities entries
  • All Honors entries, if any
  • The complete Personal Essay
  • Additional Information, if completed
  • Challenges & Circumstances, if completed
Good to know: You do not need to combine your files before uploading. If you already have a full application PDF containing these sections, you can upload that instead.
When does the clock start? Your 24–48 hour turnaround begins once we receive all required materials needed to complete your Quick Check.
